As you read about the various resources mentioned in chapters 2 and 3 of Teaching Writing, comment on any you may have used in the past, whether in a classroom setting or for your own use. How effective were they as tools in either the writing, planning, and/or collaborating process?
Check out at least several with which you are not familiar and spend some time exploring them. What is your reaction to them? How do you think they might be employed in a classroom setting?
What do you think might be the value of using digital discussion in a writing classroom? What might be some challenges in using digital discussion? What are some practical ways that you think digital discussions could be incorporated into the writing classroom?
How does Middlebrook distinguish educational blogging from other types? What does he feel are some of the strengths and weaknesses of using blogs? What do you see as the potential benefits of blogging in a writing class? What do you think might be some of the challenges? Discuss your own experiences you may have had with blogging, as either a teacher in a classroom or as a blogger.
